ID Portofolio:

Every year the City of Chicago ensures public safety and consumer confidence with thousands of inspections of storefronts, cabs, outdoor markets, and other businesses. Along with a team of 5 other students, I was asked to help the city streamline the integration of what were two separate departments carrying out these inspections.

After riding along with a cross-section of inspectors from all of the different beats, the student team developed a process model which highlights where the system works and where it doesn't. We used this model to help city personnel lay out their view of their process and identify where their concerns lay.

With a clear understanding of the inspectors' perspective and the administration's goals, we developed high-level descriptions of possible solutions.

Because of the confidential nature of the inspection process, this report cannot be shared online.
